What are the Differences Between Rogers RO4000 and RO4003C?

Rogers RO4000 series and RO4003C are high-frequency circuit boards that are widely used in RF and microwave circuit design. The following are some differences between RO4000 series and RO4003C:

Dielectric Constant (Dk):

The RO4000 series provides materials with different Dk values to meet the needs of different applications. For example, RO4360G2 has a higher Dk value of 6.15, while RO4003C has a Dk value of 3.38.

Loss Factor (Df):

RO4003C has a low loss factor (Df: 0.0027 @ 10 GHz), which makes it ideal for applications requiring low loss characteristics.

Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE):

The Z-axis thermal expansion coefficient of RO4003C is 46ppm/℃, which is similar to copper materials and provides excellent dimensional stability.

Flammability Rating:

RO4003C material is not brominated and cannot meet the UL 94V-0 flame retardant rating standard. If the application requires a UL 94V-0 flame retardant rating, other models such as RO4835™ and RO4350B™ are available.

Processing Technology:

RO4003C laminate is compatible with traditional PCB manufacturing technology and does not require special pre-processing processes, which helps reduce costs and improve production efficiency.


RO4003C is a material targeted at cost-sensitive microwave/RF designs and may provide a more cost-effective solution in some cases.



Typical applications of RO4003C include microstrip lines, cellular base station antennas, automotive radars and sensors, point-to-point microwave communications, power amplifiers and RFID antennas, etc.

RO4003C is a proprietary glass cloth-reinforced, ceramic-filled hydrocarbon composite material that combines the electrical properties of PTFE/glass cloth with the processability of epoxy resin/glass cloth.
